We arrived at the front desk and when we asked the wait staff about the reservation we made they instructed instead to go to the bar while they carried on chatting in their group of three staff members. Didn't seem bothered about serving anyone. The tables outside seemed disorganised and full of empty glasses. Bent out of shape umbrella stands, some broken ones stuffed in the grass. It was marketed an old style pub.... But actually the inside looked like a wether spoons but at private prices. The garden is beautiful but only because of the grounds, nothing that the pub itself had added to. There seemed to be an event going on at the time with live music and a craft market, but even the space hadn't been kept tidy.

Fantastic Sunday roast dinner at the White Hart, Dartington Hall - we had the beef, which looked amazing and was really tasty, too. Excellent service, especially as we hadn't booked. We were seated and served quickly, and well looked after. Definitely five stars for me.

Lovely atmosphere. Considering the prices I wouldn't go for a romantic meal in the big hall, anyone and everyone walks in and out. There is a more cosy area but we weren't given an option to sit in there. it's a beautiful building full of history. My steak was medium rare but was very hard and crunchy on the outside, I had trouble cutting it and the meat inside wasn't melt in the mouth. The smoked salmon was over powered by a real citrus. My husband had lamb which he said was perfect so he love that! And the cuttlefish was perfect.

We enjoyed a lovely meal before going to see Wonderglow. The weather outside wasn't great, but this place is warm and welcoming in a beautiful location. The food was tasty and delish with a good selection, but the service was a little slow. The belly pork and halloumi were stand out. The chilli sauce that came with the halloumi tasted homemade and had a nice heat and whilst the sweet sauce in the belly pork starter could have been too much on its own, with the meat or some bread it was very moreish. The burger was filling on a lovely roll, but maybe a little too much chutney. Looking forward to going back in the summer and enjoying a meal and a walk on a summers day.

Absolutely beautiful setting & a lovely building. There is indoor & outdoor seating. Hadn't eaten here for several years but had high hopes now that Charlotte Vincent, formerly of the Five Bells, had taken over as head chef. We'd eaten her food before & it was very good. We had lunch - the menu consisted of small plates only. We had Roast Chicken sandwiches & Buttermilk Fried Chicken between the 3 of us, with chips. The fried chicken with spiraccha mayo was good. Our chicken sarnies were disappointing. The foccacia bread was thick enough but then whole, uncut chicken breasts & salad were piled inside raising the sandwiches to an impractical eating depth. You had to dismantle them to eat & the bread was also too spongy & on the dry side. The chicken was however cooked nicely & well seasoned. The chips were crispy & not too oily. My favourite part of our lunch here though were the Lattes - just one shot of coffee was very flavoursome.
